The system is designed so that the league has the flexibility in selecting games to air on Sunday evening, the best equipment brands current function. This system is designed to prevent especially the losers game airing in prime time late in the season, while at the same time allows the surprise team of the playoffs potential the opportunity to play at night. In most of last season in 2005, 19 December Monday Night Game against Baltimore Ravens 04:09 Green Bay Packers from 1930 to 1910 brought the teams had during warm rays as the Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars have little or no games in prime time.

Because Christmas Eve (December 24) falls on a Sunday during the 2006 season, flexible scheduling occurring in seven of the last eight weeks. Instead of a game on Sunday evening on the eve of Christmas, two games on Monday, taking Christmas: The Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas at 5 pm ET, and New York Jets in Miami 20.30 clock ET. Therefore, the first real test comes for the new flexible programming with the 2007 season with the last seven weeks scheduled on 18 November this year to begin.

In the flexible programming, all games begin on Sunday affected in the weeks, the time of 1:00 ET/10am PT, except played in the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone, which will have a start time from 16:00 ET/1pm PT (or 4:15 ET / 1:15 PT, if there is a two-game weekend.) On Tuesday 12 days before the games, the league will move one game for the first time, and possibly move one or more sets of slots 13:00 04:00 slots.
